Dining
The table& the cellar.
Dinner and breakfast are part of the stay here — cooked properly, served where the light is best: the dining room, the verandah, or out in the garden.
Start the day the Abangane way
A wholesome continental spread or a full English, made to order while the valley finishes waking up. Fruit picked ripe, yoghurt and preserves in little white boats, bread still warm — and coffee that keeps coming. Guests mention this table in review after review.
- Continental & full English, made fresh
- Served in the dining room, on the verandah or in the garden
- In-room coffee & tea station, always stocked

Dinner from Thabo’s kitchen
After a day in the park you don’t want to drive anywhere. You don’t have to: dinner is included, home-cooked and elegantly plated, with the fireplace lit in winter and the verandah open in summer. Lunch can be arranged whenever the day calls for it.
- Dinner included in your stay
- “Delicious food by Thabo” — guest review, 2025
- Lunch served on request
Five signature cocktails
The lodge keeps a fully licensed bar with its own five signature cocktails (and mocktails for the driving half of the party), poured just as the valley turns gold. A welcome drink finds you at check-in; the sundowner hour takes care of itself.
- Welcome drink on arrival
- Signature cocktails & mocktails at the pool
- Fully licensed, very reasonably priced
A cellar worth the detour
A well-stocked wine cellar leans South African and generous — picked to keep pace with Thabo’s kitchen. Ask for a bottle at dinner, or carry one down to the boma and let the fire do the pairing.

Then: the boma.
Fire, stars, one more glass, and stories that run late. Some of our best reviews were written about nights that ended right here.
